CIExpert has launched a new tool to help advisers take advantage of Zurich’s recently upgraded product range for critical illness cover (CIC). The new Customiser Tool was also designed to meet Consumer Duty requirements by providing a cost versus quality assessment for all the customised options that Zurich's product range offers.

Zurich's new proposition, launched this month, comprises three levels of cover - Core, Enhanced and Enhanced Plus - which can be selected as either adult only or with Core child or Enhanced child quality levels.
Alongside the cover, customers can add congenital conditions, pregnancy complications and birth defect cover as an add-on option for both child variations, which creates 15 main policy variants - all of which can be compared through CIExpert's new solution.
Alan Lakey, director at CIExpert, told COVER that these policy variants "resonate with Consumer Duty requirements" to offer fair value and good outcomes for consumers, but "nonetheless makes life difficult when the portals can only offer a fixed level of child cover."
"CIExpert has designed a Customiser Tool enabling portal quotations to be amended to reflect the actual cost of the different options and at all the levels of children's cover," he said.
